A shared fishing charter is a good option for solo travelers, couples and small groups who want to fish offshore from Cancun without reserving an entire private boat.
Our shared fishing trip is a 6-hour morning charter aboard a 31-foot Bertram with a maximum of six passengers. Each person reserves a spot on the boat and fishes alongside other guests booked on the same trip.
The trip departs at 7:00 AM with check-in at 6:40 AM. Fishing gear, tackle, bait, Mexican fishing licenses, ice, bottled water, soft drinks and beer are included.
How Does a Shared Fishing Charter Work?
Unlike a private charter, where one group reserves the entire boat, a shared charter allows individual anglers and smaller groups to reserve seats on the same fishing trip.
The boat carries a maximum of six passengers. This makes shared fishing particularly useful for one or two anglers who want a 6-hour fishing trip without paying the cost of a private charter.
Everyone fishes from the same boat with the same captain and first mate, and the fishing techniques used will depend on the season and current conditions.
What Can You Catch on a Shared Fishing Charter?
Shared trips fish the same waters and seasonal patterns as our private offshore charters.
Depending on the time of year and fishing conditions, trolling can produce sailfish, blue and white marlin, mahi-mahi, wahoo, tuna and other pelagic species. Bottom fishing can produce grouper, barracuda and other species found around reefs and offshore structure.
The captain determines the fishing areas and techniques based on the season, weather, sea conditions and where the fishing has been most productive.
31-Foot Bertram Shared Fishing Boat
Shared fishing trips take place aboard a 31-foot Bertram sportfishing boat and are limited to a maximum of six passengers.
The boat is equipped for offshore trolling and bottom fishing with fishing tackle, fighting chairs, outriggers, downriggers, GPS and fish-finding electronics.
Unlike the private 31-foot charters we just finished, individual seats are booked on this trip, so you may be fishing with other guests.
